Client overview:

The client is a multinational corporation, headquartered in Germany. It is one of the largest manufacturers of sports equipment in the world. The client’s revenue in 2018 was listed at €21.915 billion.

Problem statement:

The client needed to migrate their supply management application from On-Prem to AWS. Given that the client has a large footprint in AWS, the below factors were considered for migration.

  • Cost – Costs involved are considerably less, compared with On-Prem
  • Availability – Easy to integrate with other client applications and data
  • Support – Vendor app support is easier in AWS compared to On-prem
  • Governance - Stakeholders and support teams can easily manage and monitor

Solution:

Based on the client’s problem statements, Mindtree engineered a solution, comprising aspects such as employing a Lift and Shift strategy, application monitoring and others, with the aim to mitigate them. Below are the key highlights:

  • Lift and shift migration strategy employed
  • Created Test and Prod environments
  • Created EC2 and RDS services
  • Created S3 buckets for data and backups
  • Integration between On-prem FTP server and AWS S3
  • Application monitoring using Zabbix tool
  • Configured backups and archival
  • Created Cloudtrail and Cloudwatch metrics and alarms
  • Security compliance configuration carried out in AWS as per the client’s standards
