The client is one of the largest Indian gold financing companies. It has 4350 branches spread across the country providing gold based and other financing services to individuals and businesses.
Challenge
These branches hold large amounts of cash and gold due to the nature of the business. They have 2-4 cameras/recorders in each branch. All the branches are connected centrally to a server, but only for reporting purposes (MIS). They have faced several instances of theft in spite of having installed CCTV solution with intrusion detectors. Invariably in such incidents, intruders damaged cameras, recorders and destroyed the video evidence. The main challenge was to ensure that surveillance evidence was made available even when the local infrastructure was damaged.
The client selected cloud-based back-up solution to tackle this challenge. They had to choose between private and public cloud, and real-time and periodic backup.
Gladius Cloud
Mindtree’s Gladius Cloud provided the right solution by optimizing both storage and bandwidth requirements. Considering the remote locations and limited bandwidth at some of the branches, Mindtree recommended hosting the solution on public cloud with staged incremental backup.
