Over the years as Essar continued to expand its global footprint, its physical-server count increased resulting in daunting challenges and a rapidly deteriorating IT infrastructure. The company’s goal was to optimize this infrastructure so that it performs as efficiently as the business. To reconfigure its vast collection of servers, the IT team chose the Windows Server 2012 operating system, Hyper-V technology, and Microsoft System Center 2012 suite of components to virtualize its data center and build a private cloud to dynamically allocate IT resources to the business as needed.
